From the word Nation itself it may refer to a community like Filipinos but the word Nationalism is the love of country. It is consciousness of one race or ethnic group that is rooted in having one religion, language, culture, history, and values. Nationalism connotes pride of one's race or ethnic grouping, so my question is how can we show Nationalism in our Country? I would like you all to take a look at this pictures and reflect, these are pictures of Philippine National Heroes.
Just like Dr. Jose Rizal, Emilio Jacinto, Gregorio del Pilar, Andres Bonifacio, Graciano Lopez-Jaena who all share the same Nationalism as Filipino who fought and die for our country. But of course that isn't what I'm asking, to fight or die for the country.......but well it depends on you.. just kidding. But you can show your nationalism just simply on your own little ways.
As a Bosconian and a student of Don Bosco Manila I can, I will, and SHALL show my nationalism as a filipino by simply making the Philippines "Clean & Green" for a better place to live for all of us and I will start by picking up trashes and throw it in the right garbage label and Reusing Recycling and Reducing especially plastics by giving plastic bottle or used papers every Thursday (because every Thursday in our school we collect plastic bottles and used papers for recycling).
I will also serve my fellow Filipinos and I will start in our school service by helping our school librarians in book shelving, making the Library quiet, and Library Stuff....., I would also serve my fellow Filipinos by giving Donations in "Pondo ng Pinoy" and Mission Collection every Tuesday in our school even the smallest amount at least it came from my heart. <3 just like what Martin Luther King said "Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love."
I will also show my Nationalism in many simple ways, like a simple respect for elderlies what all out parents taught us, the way of saying "po" and "opo", kissing the hands of elderlies and blessing of hands "mano po" and giving respect or our Indigenous ethnic people, spreading and continuing our cultures and traditions, like celebrating of National Events and Holidays, being hospitable to guests, and singing and giving respect to our Flag.
I have here 3 different videos I hope you can all take time to watch this videos.
Here is video on teachings about Nationalism it also tells us on how we Filipinos can show our nationalism for our country.
This video is also about teachings on how we Filipinos can who our nationalism for our country it also states on how our sense of nationalism first opened up and came to be and just some of our national heroes.
And this small video presentation is a song entitled "Isang Dugo, Isang Lahi, Isang Musika"
I hope I encourage and inspire you all to show our Nationalism and our Love for the Philippines, because it is never to late to change and start a new, and then we can all call our selves "Hero"
not this kind of hero...well maybe
"Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can't ride you unless your back is bent."
-Martin Luther King, Jr
